The Power of Story in Our Brand Identity

From day one, building Votes of Confidence wasn’t about logos, fonts, or color palettes... it was about purpose.

We wanted every detail of the brand to feel alive, to carry a narrative that people could see themselves in or be inspired by. Confidence isn’t something you can fake with design alone; it’s something you build through meaning, context, and connection. Our identity had to reflect that, to remind people that what they wear, say, and stand for can rewrite old scripts of silence and self-doubt. Every curve, line, and flick of our logo carries that mission: to spark conversation, fuel courage, and make confidence contagious.

It all starts with the "V"...

The “V” in Votes of Confidence is inspired by the iconic Rosie the Riveter poster — the one of Rosie in a blue work shirt, flexing her arm with the words “We Can Do It!” splashed above her.

At the time, it was radical: a symbol of feminine capability and strength in a world that wasn’t ready to see it. It shook people out of their comfort zones, and that’s exactly the energy we’re channeling. We’re not here to blend in. If someone feels uneasy because you’re standing taller, building your confidence, or naming the strategies the system has long used to keep certain groups quiet, obedient, and small — that’s their problem. We’re shifting the shame.

The “V” also carries the weight of strength and capability in its shape — reminiscent of power, defiance, and bold presence. It’s a reminder that taking up space isn’t something you need permission for. Too often we’ve been told: don’t be too emotional, don’t ruffle feathers, don’t embarrass anyone, you’re too young, too old, too inexperienced, too full-on. Think of the famous Jane Austen insult, “obstinate, headstrong girl” — a perfect example of how ridicule and embarrassment have long been used to silence someone simply for daring to have opinions of their own and use their voice. These are the tactics that have worked for generations to keep things as they are — serving the comfortable and the privileged. No more.

The Movement

The flicks woven through the other letters — on the “t,” the “n,” and the “e” — symbolize growth and movement. Confidence isn’t rigid; it’s alive. Movement means unlearning old stories, relearning new truths, and stretching into places you never thought possible. It also means recognizing and celebrating how your journey, growth, and efforts can create space for others to grow and soften around you — even people you never imagined would.

When you see the logo stitched on clothing or scroll past it online, we want you to feel fortified, emboldened, excited, and energized. It’s a symbol of rebellion, of change, of growth, of camaraderie, and of strength in numbers.

The Power of Permanence

But most importantly, it’s about longevity, perseverance, and pride. We’re here to permanently shift culture and social norms once and for all. The shame around what makes us unique and beautiful? Gone. The jokes at our expense? Done. The tired “that’s just the way the cookie crumbles” mentality? Extinct. And we’ll do it strategically — through education, through building confidence carefully like a muscle, strengthened to hold us up the way training supports a body for a sport or a marathon. This logo is a declaration: we will not shrink — and the world will never go back to what it was before.
